Star India SVP for new media, Gurtej Sandhu recently told us the company might premier a Star One show online before it appears on TV. They have actually premiered two Star Plus shows on Star Player, the company’s online video platform. On 5 August, two new Star Plus shows—Aap Ki Kachehri and Sajan Ghar Jaana Hain—were available on Star Player hours before they launched on TV. Even though the company billed the event as “India’s first online premiere”, it sent out a release after one of the shows launched on Star Player, missing the opportunity to drum up some buzz.
Surprisingly, Star has not put its most talked about show—the controversial Sach Ka Saamna—on the video site. After spending time among the top 10 rated shows in the first week of its launch, the show has now slipped, registering the highest TVR of 3 for the week ended 1 August.
