Web Spiders Enters System Integration, Acquires 50% In Netwings

 Web Spiders, a Kolkata based software consulting company engaged in delivering fibre optic applications, has acquired 50 percent stake in Netwings Infotech Pvt Ltd (NIPL). The development marks company’s entry into systems integration, which was earlier only into manufacturing and software.     Speaking to VCCircle.com, Siddharth Jhunjhunwala CEO, Web Spiders (India) Pvt Ltd said, “Netwings is the system integration provider of fibre optics, Supreme is the manufacturer of fibre optic accessories, where as Web Spiders is the software manufacturer. With this acquisition, we have created a very synergistic end-to-end platform from manufacturing to software and systems integration for our customers.”   Elaborating the plan ahead, Jhunjhunwala pointed out that each entity is focused on its own mission and the group is looking forward for large government contracts for the implementation of networks. “We are actively building large government contracts for the implementation of network services. Besides, we have done the Kolkata Wipro Centre and are in talks with Tata Motors and are primarily focusing on e-Governance and large activity projects in Geographic Information System (GIS) and weather services.”   For weather services, the company has recently tied up with Reliance Big FM in Mumbai and is supplying all monsoon data to the client.   Besides domestic operations, the company has presence in the US and UK and is spreading its arm in the Middle East regions as well including Dubai as one of the focus area. However, Jhunjhunwala mentioned that the company is working aggressively to tap domestic market and want a pan-India presence. “We want a pan-India presence. Power and government are the two main thrust areas of the company as of now,” asserted Jhunjhunwala.   Started in 1997, Web Spiders got Supreme & Co as an investor in 2000 that holds 60 per cent stake in the company. Now, after Web Spiders acquiring of 50 percent stake in Netwings, the total size of the company has become $50 million.   Web Spiders services include Mobile Application and Product Development for m-Commerce & Entertainment, Rich Internet Apps Development, Enterprise CMS & e-Commerce deployment using Ektron, Interwoven and Open source platforms in verticals across healthcare, media and entertainment, automotive and manufacturing, financial Services and Hi-Tech. Some of the major clients of the company include Atkins, Century 21, Aviva, Mitsubishi Motors and Pro Brand.
