The government will set up an ambitious information technology network, connecting some 14,000 police stations, some 6,200 key government offices such as passport offices and immigration counters, as well as courts. The Rs2,000 crore project was approved by the planning commission yesterday, TOI reports.

NDTV Imagine CEO Sameer Nair’s bets on controversial actor Rakhi Sawant seem to have paid off for the channel—at least for the opening week. Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, a reality show in which the actor will choose a husband from among several suitors, opened with a TVR (television viewership rating) of 4.1 and helped NDTV Imagine gain 23% in GRPs to 133 for the week ended 4 July, according to data from TAM Media Research.

Thomson Reuters (NSDQ: TRIN), the leading financial news and business information company, has acquired private equity backed Indlaw Communications Pvt. Ltd., a Delhi-based legal information company, for an undisclosed amount. Indlaw runs a legal, tax and regulatory information database website called Indlaw.com. It will now be a subsidiary of Thomson Reuters.

India Today Group’s fortnightly personal finance magazine Money Today will soon become monthly, according to a person familiar with the situation. This is understood to be part of a larger streamlining exercise the group is putting several of its titles through.
Money Today executive editor Alam Srinivas has also stepped down. He confirmed the development. Srinivas has been at the helm for eleven months, prior to which, he was business editor at Outlook. The magazine hasn’t named a replacement.
Living Media CEO Ashish Bagga denied that the magazine was becoming a monthly.
